KUDER/MCIS: Marketing Manager

KUDER/MCIS Cluster Name: Marketing Manager
Career Name: Marketing Manager
Education Needed: In order to be a marketing manager, I would need a high school diploma or GED and a bachelor's degree. Also, work experience in marketing is necessary.
Job Projections: The annual job openings in Minnesota are 181 jobs. Nationally there are about 6,131 job openings.
Minnesota Hourly Wage and Yearly Salary: The median hourly wage in Minnesota is $55.29. The median yearly salary is $115,000.
National Hourly Wage and Yearly Salary: The median hourly wage for a marketing manager nationally is $52.20. The median yearly salary is $108,580.

Three reasons I might be successful as a marketing manager is that I enjoy solving problems. Another reason is that hiring, training, and supervising staff interests me. The last reason this career might be right for me is that I think that staying up to date with trends and other stuff would be fairly easy and interesting, and it would help me be successful as a marketing manager.

Three reasons I might not be successful as a marketing manager is that they sometimes work long hours, which wouldn't interest me because I want a good amount of time with my family and friends. Another reason is that they have to negotiate contracts with vendors and distributors, and I sometimes give up too easily in negotiations. The last reason is that evaluating how much money something will cost doesn't sound very exciting and fun and if I would mess up a little bit it could cost me my job.

  1. Part of your schooling and training would teach you haw to estimate costs and to negotiate contracts.
